HRCT Chest Findings of Re-expansion Pulmonary Edema: A Case Report
نویسندگان
چکیده
Re-expansion pulmonary edema occurs when the lung re-expands after an extended duration of collapse. It is rare with reported incidence between 0% and 1%. We present a case 51-year male who presented breathlessness, cough right-sided chest pain. Chest radiograph showed pneumothorax. After 2 hours tube insertion, patient developed tachypnea severe hypoxemia. HRCT revealed consolidation, ground glass opacity smooth interlobular septal thickening in right as well small patch contralateral lung. The serial resolution consolidation opacities.

High-Resolution CT Findings of Re-Expansion Pulmonary Edema
OBJECTIVE To describe the high-resolution CT (HRCT) findings of re-expansion pulmonary edema (REPE) following a thoracentesis for a spontaneous pneumothorax. MATERIALS AND METHODS HRCT scans from 43 patients who developed REPE immediately after a thoracentesis for treatment of pneumothorax were retrospectively analyzed. The study group consisted of 41 men and two women with a mean age of 34 y...
متن کاملIpsilateral re-expansion pulmonary edema in a neurosurgical patient--a case report.
We report a case of a 42-year-old female with right parietal glioma, scheduled for elective craniotomy and tumor excision. The patient developed pneumothorax in the postoperative period. An incidence of unilateral pulmonary edema occurring as a result of rapid re-expansion of collapsed lungs is described. This type of pulmonary edema may delay postoperative recovery and have a catastrophic cour...
متن کاملOrganizing pneumonia: chest HRCT findings*
OBJECTIVE To determine the frequency of HRCT findings and their distribution in the lung parenchyma of patients with organizing pneumonia. METHODS This was a retrospective review of the HRCT scans of 36 adult patients (26 females and 10 males) with biopsy-proven organizing pneumonia. The patients were between 19 and 82 years of age (mean age, 56.2 years). The HRCT images were evaluated by two...
متن کاملHydrothorax with alveolar-pleural fistula mimicking re-expansion pulmonary edema during liver transplantation: a case report
We present a case of an alveolar-pleural fistula with hepatic hydrothorax in a patient undergoing orthotropic liver transplantation, which was detected by drainage of transudate through an endotracheal tube during operation. A standard endotracheal tube was changed to a double-lumen tube to provide differential lung ventilation. The patient was diagnosed with an alveolar-pleural fistula by dire...
متن کاملSevere Re-expansion Pulmonary Edema Induced by One-Lung Ventilation.
We present 2 cases of severe re-expansion pulmonary edema (RPE) after one-lung ventilation (OLV) for thoracic surgery. A 32-y-old woman with multiple lung metastases developed severe RPE after OLV during lung resection surgery. A 37-y-old man with infective endocarditis also developed severe RPE after OLV for mitral valve plasty with minimally invasive cardiac surgery. In both cases, results of...
