The text Rom 9:5 is referred to as crux interpretum in exegetical studies and considered one of the most difficult passages Letter Romans. In history exegesis, various ways interpreting eulogy 9:5c have been proposed. contemporary debate primarily whether be applied Christ or God. It has acknowledged that interpretation remains a question solve. Several points view speak for fact ὁ ὢν does not refer back Χριστός 9:5b but introduces new sentence accordingly referring Christ, God (cf. 1:25; 11,33–36). After enumerating extraordinary privileges chosen people received from God, culminating gift Messiah (Rom 9:4b–5b), Paul pronounces who “above all” 9:5c), trusting he able provide salvation nonÂ-Christian members Israel because his gifts calling are irrevocable 11:29).
