How Does Vegetation Landscape Structure of Urban Green Spaces Affect Cultural Ecosystem Services at Multiscale: Based on PLS-SEM Model

چکیده

Benefits of cultural ecosystem services (CESs) urban green spaces (UGSs) for human health and general well-being have been widely recognized. Optimizing the landscape structure vegetation improving CES are essential to reduce environmental inequality, detecting determinant features that influence at multi-scale is first step. Using partial least squares structural equation modeling (PLS-SEM), we evaluated multiscale effects UGS on residents’ perceptions in 40 residential communities Zhengzhou city, China. According our results, micro-scale level a single community, public activity within spaces, particularly large size open was most critical factor affecting recreational services, which provided multifunctional landscape, with opportunities multiple leisure activities entertainment. Then, percentage coverage patches can significantly improve were identified natural landscape. At species community level, although contributed little CES, an area grass cover beneficial increase aesthetic both richness flowers ornamental trees improved spiritual perception. However, findings suggest management space effective direct way resolving inequities between different infrastructure, future research should explore subjective larger spatial scale.

Redefining Landscape Structure for Ecosystem Services

Our understanding of the effects of landscape structure on ecosystem services (ES) remains at a very early stage, despite a large body of literature on the effects of the composition and configuration of natural land cover on some ES. Here, I argue that a comprehensive understanding of the effects of landscape structure on ES requires us to reconsider what constitutes landscape structure for ES...

How does landscape structure influence landscape connectivity?

We investigated the impact of landscape structure on landscape connectivity using a combination of simulation and empirical experiments. In a previous study we documented the movement behaviour of a specialized goldenrod beetle (Trirhabda borealis Blake) in three kinds of patches: habitat (goldenrod) patches and two types of matrix patch (cut vegetation and cut vegetation containing camouflage ...

Global Drivers and Tradeoffs of Three Urban Vegetation Ecosystem Services

Our world is increasingly urbanizing which is highlighting that sustainable cities are essential for maintaining human well-being. This research is one of the first attempts to globally synthesize the effects of urbanization on ecosystem services and how these relate to governance, social development and climate. Three urban vegetation ecosystem services (carbon storage, recreation potential an...

Advancing Sustainability through Urban Green Space: Cultural Ecosystem Services, Equity, and Social Determinants of Health

Urban green spaces provide an array of benefits, or ecosystem services, that support our physical, psychological, and social health. In many cases, however, these benefits are not equitably distributed across diverse urban populations. In this paper, we explore relationships between cultural ecosystem services provided by urban green space and the social determinants of health outlined in the U...

Insectivorous bats respond to vegetation complexity in urban green spaces

Structural complexity is known to determine habitat quality for insectivorous bats, but how bats respond to habitat complexity in highly modified areas such as urban green spaces has been little explored. Furthermore, it is uncertain whether a recently developed measure of structural complexity is as effective as field-based surveys when applied to urban environments. We assessed whether image-...
