چکیده

Abstract This article examines two brief travelogues by the American writer and visual artist Joe Brainard (1942–1994) as formally unique fusions of travel journal literary collage, in which experience becomes a catalyst for introspection. “Wednesday, July 7 th , 1971 (A Greyhound Bus Trip)” is record bus journey that made summer 1971, from Port Authority Terminal New York City to Montpelier, Vermont, while “Washington D.C. Journal 1972” diary three-day car trip capital, taken with Brainard’s oldest friend (and future biographer), School poet Ron Padgett his wife son. In both texts, description particulars combined meditation about author’s life career. After introducing structure travelogues, demonstrates their formal indebtedness relies on fragmentation, heterogeneity, parataxis, use appropriated content. What follows an analysis texts’ oscillation between account external stimuli train thought. It argued that, gradually, inward more important than outward, leading author towards pushing boundaries candour (in “Wednesday”) artistic self-assessment “Washington”). The interprets those works manifestation twentieth-century writing’s turn self-reflectiveness concludes considering relationship fragmentary, collage-like form introspective content texts at hand, well entire output.

Photo Browsing with Collage Trees

Recent advances in technology have made it possible for the average person to acquire thousands of high resolution digital photographs per year. While there are clear advantages to having the ability to amass such large collections it creates new problems when trying to organize, browse and generally interact with the photos. In this paper we introduce the concept of a Photo Collage Tree, a str...

Differences in intersaccadic adaptation transfer between inward and outward adaptation.

Saccadic adaptation is a mechanism to increase or decrease the amplitude gain of subsequent saccades, if a saccade is not on target. Recent research has shown that the mechanism of gain increasing, or outward adaptation, and the mechanism of gain decreasing, or inward adaptation, rely on partly different processes. We investigate how outward and inward adaptation of reactive saccades transfer t...

Cortical representation of inward and outward radial motion in man.

We have used positron emission tomography to investigate the cortical areas of the normal human brain involved in processing inward (Expansion) and outward (Contraction) radial motion simulated with an optic flow stimulus. The optical flow display was made out of dots moving radially away from or toward the center of the display monitor. In the Control condition, the dots' motion was randomized...

Inward and Outward Integral Equations and the Kkr Method

Our main goals have been to calculate photonic bands on various periodic dielectric lattices, to clarify some controversy regarding existence of a photonic band gap for fcc lattice of dielectric spheres [1], and finally treat impurities in a photonic crystal [2]. Motivated by the search for a photonic band gap [3] we have tried to adapt one of the standard methods of electron band theory namely...
