Hot-dip galvanizing of high and ultra-high strength thin-walled CHS steel tubes: Mechanical performance and coating characteristics

چکیده
Hot-dip galvanizing is one of the most common corrosion protection techniques for steel. This widely available method increases lifetime steel structures by up to 50 years. Although there a well-established hot-dip structural mild-steel, effects this on mechanical properties high and ultra-high strength steels (HSS UHSS), with nominal yield greater than 700MPa, has not been thoroughly studied. The study galvanized thin-walled HSS UHSS tubes important since (a) heat can easily penetrate small thickness change their behaviour, (b) these materials are made through special treatment process which might render them sensitive exposure during galvanizing, (c) in alloy especially Si equivalent (Si+P) content categorizes as reactive rapid reaction molten zinc. Therefore, deeply performance high-grade steels, were dipped zinc bath various durations. For each time, tube intact sand-blasted surface used so that roughness effect coating could be explored. Dog-bone, shape, beam-shaped specimens cut out larger tensile, compressive, impact, microscopy, thickness, hardness studies. A mild was also studied control specimen comparison purposes. These studies showed after lost ultimate stress recovered some ductility. On other hand, portion ductility gained higher stresses. In addition, it found did affect but decreased 10%. Coating conducted measurements, impact tests, microscopic measurements increased respect time thicker formed surfaces. Moreover, tests plastically bent demonstrated favourable terms cracking under severe plastic deformation non-sand-blasted surfaces experienced 1.5 min. outcomes have potential incorporated into codes practice design guidelines suitable components UHSS.

متن کاملMechanical Properties and Durability of Ultra High Strength Concrete Incorporating Multi-Walled Carbon Nanotubes
In this work, the effect of the addition of multi-walled carbon nanotubes (MWCNTs) on the mechanical properties and durability of ultra high strength concrete (UHSC) is reported. First, the MWCNTs were dispersed by a nano sand-mill in the presence of a surfactant in water. The UHSC specimens were prepared with various amounts of MWCNTs, ranging from 0% to 0.15% by weight of cement (bwoc). Resul...

Fatigue Properties of the Ultra-High Strength Steel TM210A
This paper presents the results of an experiment to investigate the high cycle fatigue properties of the ultra-high strength steel TM210A. A constant amplitude rotating bending fatigue experiment was performed at room temperature at stress ratio R = -1. In order to evaluate the notch effect, the fatigue experiment was carried out upon two sets of specimens, smooth and notched, respectively. In ...
