Horticultural Crop Response to Different Environmental and Nutritional Stress

نویسندگان

چکیده

Environmental conditions and nutritional stress may greatly affect crop performance. Abiotic stresses such as temperature (cold, heat), water (drought, flooding), irradiance, salinity, nutrients, heavy metals can strongly plant growth dynamics the yield quality of horticultural products. Such effects have become greater importance during course global climate change. Different strategies techniques be used to detect, investigate, mitigate environmental stress. Horticultural management is moving towards digitized, precision through wireless remote-control solutions, but data analysis, although a traditional approach, remains basis detection management. This Special Issue summarizes recent progress in agronomic detect reduce on crops.

Translational research in agricultural biology—enhancing crop resistivity against environmental stress alongside nutritional quality

“Plants Are Smarter Than We Thought” was the headline news recently in a leading journal (Science News, March 6, 2014; http://news.sciencemag.org/signal -noise/ 2014/03/plants-are-smarter-we-thought), highlighting an article published elsewhere (Meyer et al., 2014), which presented evidence that plants are able to make smart decisions in response to predation and environment. Plants are well kn...

Differential response of rat brown and white adipose tissue to environmental or nutritional stress.

1. In vivo fatty acid synthesis by brown adipose tissue was enhanced in rats exposed to cold (5 degrees C) or altitude (4300 m) for 7 days but was unaltered in rats exposed to heat (35 degrees C) for an equivalent period. In vivo fatty acid synthesis by white adipose tissue was depressed by cold exposure while altitude and heat exposure had no effect. 2. In vitro, CO2 production and lipid synth...

Crop and medicinal plants proteomics in response to salt stress

Increasing of world population marks a serious need to create new crop cultivars and medicinal plants with high growth and production at any environmental situations. Among the environmental unfavorable conditions, salinity is the most widespread in the world. Crop production and growth severely decreases under salt stress; however, some crop cultivars show significant tolerance against the neg...

Prion Switching in Response to Environmental Stress

Evolution depends on the manner in which genetic variation is translated into new phenotypes. There has been much debate about whether organisms might have specific mechanisms for "evolvability," which would generate heritable phenotypic variation with adaptive value and could act to enhance the rate of evolution. Capacitor systems, which allow the accumulation of cryptic genetic variation and ...
