Abstract Hop ( Humulus lupulus L.): Traditional and Present Use, Future Potential. ) is best known for its use in beer brewing owing to bittering flavor floral aroma. Today, the industry uses as much 98% of produced hop crop worldwide. However, there are many other uses, some them since prehistoric times. Hops, cone–like female structures called strobili, most frequently used part plant, but tissues interest well. The present review compiles existing knowledge chemical pharmacological properties, traditional further potential, genetic resources, breeding attempts H. , discusses climate change challenges production . It contains hundreds phytochemicals, secondary metabolites have definite potential medicinal value, investigations desirable. substances alternatives, e.g., antimicrobial, cancer, metabolic syndrome, hormone replacement therapy treatments, well insecticides, preservatives, fragrances. There presently a few hundred cultivated varieties, new cultivars being developed tested. efforts with different quality adaptation targets can utilize such wild populations landraces regions.

Predicting Offspring Performance in Hop (Humulus lupulus L
J. Am. Soc. Brew. Chem. 68(3):125-131, 2010 Genetic information for male and female hop accessions is limited, hampering parental selection to maximize offspring productivity. Our objective was to determine whether amplified fragment length polymorphism (AFLP)derived genetic distance (GDmm) estimates and coancestry estimates from pedigrees (GSped) between parental pairs could be used to predict...
متن کاملHop (Humulus lupulus L.) Extract and 6-Prenylnaringenin Induce P450 1A1 Catalyzed Estrogen 2-Hydroxylation
Humulus lupulus L. (hops) is a popular botanical dietary supplement used by women as a sleep aid and for postmenopausal symptom relief. In addition to its efficacy for menopausal symptoms, hops can also modulate the chemical estrogen carcinogenesis pathway and potentially protect women from breast cancer. In the present study, an enriched hop extract and the key bioactive compounds [6-prenylnar...
متن کاملProtocol for systematic review and meta-analysis: hop (Humulus lupulus L.) for menopausal vasomotor symptoms
INTRODUCTION Menopause is a critical stage in every woman's life. It can cause a distressing time for women by creating various vasomotor symptoms (VMS). Phytoestrogens can potentially exert various favourable effects and alleviate VMS in postmenopausal women. The hop (Humulus lupulus L.) contains 8-prenylnaringenin (8-PN), the most potent phytoestrogen known to date. The hop is eight times str...
متن کاملResponses of Plasma Acetate Metabolism to Hop (Humulus lupulus L.) in Sheep
An isotope dilution method using [1-(13)C]sodium (Na) acetate was conducted to determine the effect of feeding hop (Humulus lupulus L.) residues on plasma acetate metabolism in six adult crossbred sheep. The sheep were fed 63 g/kg BW(0.75)/d of either mixed hay (MH-diet) of orchardgrass (Dactylis glomerata L.) and reed canarygrass (Phalaris arundinacea L.) at a 60:40 ratio or MH-diet and hop-re...
