Holistic Approach of Periodontitis Patient with Diabetes Mellitus: A Case Report

Diabetes mellitus (DM) is a common risk factor for patients with periodontal disease. Periodontitis poor glycaemic control present severe and advanced tissue destruction. A multidisciplinary approach between the periodontist medical practitioner clinically proven to maintain patient's health general well-being. This case report aims raise awareness provide basic guideline dental practitioners in identifying managing periodontitis undiagnosed DM particularly if patient presented recurrent abscess. 34-year-old Malay lady abscess diagnosed Stage III Grade C was treated holistically by practitioner. The compliance towards treatment, routine check-ups, medications has helped achieved better controlled level. Following her sixth re-evaluation two years improvement oral hygiene, resolution of gingival swelling bleeding were seen after sequences non-surgical, surgical treatment patient’s follow-up.
