Histopathological study of ovarian lesions at a tertiary care hospital

Background: Ovary is the commonest site of neoplastic and non-neoplastic lesion, can present in childhood to postmenopausal age group accounts for most prevalent cause hospital admissions. Aims & Objectives: (1) To know about various histopathological types ovarian lesions presented diagnosed. (2) study incidence with respect patient’s age. (3) frequency terms or neoplastic, benign malignant, unilateral bilateral, etc.Materials Method: This a descriptive which was carried out at B.J. Medical College, Ahmedabad period three years from 1st January 2018 31st December 2020. A Total 225 cases were received processed Pathology Department. Hematoxylin Eosin stained slides examined. We have included parameters like Age wise incidence, Nature Lesion, Frequency Laterality this study.Results: Out cases, 197 (87.56%) 28cases (12.44%) 98 (43.56%) non 127 (56.44%) neoplastic. Majority 112(49.78%) belong 20-39 years. The common lesion seen Follicular Cyst followed by simple corpus luteal cyst. Among lesions, 120 (94.49%) 1 case (0.78%) borderline 6 (4.73%) malignant. In neoplasm, commonly serous cyst adenoma cystic teratoma mucinous adenoma. malignant maximum adenocarcinoma endometrioid carcinoma. Conclusion: Ovarian Lesions both include variety morphological features show particular incidence. Role evaluation remains always important diagnosis management such particularly Malignant order save life.
