Histological evaluation of periapical tissue response after implantation of experimental nanostructured calcium aluminate cement - in vivo study

Introduction. ALBO-HA (Vinca, Serbia) is new nanostructured calcium aluminate cement, synthesized as a potential alternative to mineral trioxide aggregate (MTA). The purpose of this study was compare the periapical tissue response cement with white MTA (MTA Angelus, Londrina, Brasil) root-filling material into root canal sheep?s teeth. Material and methods. Sixteen mandibular incisors from two 24-month-old sheep were used. Root canals prepared filled (group 1) or 2) (eight teeth per group in each sheep). After four weeks animals sacrificed, surrounding removed, histologically processed. sections analyzed for determination scores following parameters: inflammatory infiltrate, newly mineralized apically formed tissue, apical periodontal ligament space thickness resorption dentin, cementum bone. Data statistically (?=0.05) using Mann-Whitney U test. Results. Slight infiltrate observed 75.0% 62.5% samples 1 2, respectively (p>0.05). Partial found 1, 87.5% 2 No significant difference noted Resorption bone not observed. Conclusion. Angelus had similar effect on inflammation, formation after filling under present experimental conditions.

Solidification/stabilization of toxic metals in calcium aluminate cement matrices.
