چکیده

Background: Hippocampal volume has sharp rise till age of 2 years; then it rises slowly. Objective: To build a reference for hippocampus among Sudanese population. Method: It was comparative cross-sectional facility base study; with total coverage 65 patients attending Elmoalem Hospital, 3D MRI brain, during (December 2021 –April 2022). Dependent variable hippocampal and independent personal data. Data collected using master sheet. Measurement done slicer program. SPSS version 23 Chi square test were used. P≤ 0.05 considered statistically significant. Results: sixty two percent female. Minimum group up to 18 years while maximum above 40 years. Total without gender discrimination 2118.7370 ± 1081.61581 mm³; where right larger than the left volume. There no statistical association between (P value =.994). strong male volume, = 0.001). Conclusion: The male’s female’s is one males. females.

Structural MRI in Frontotemporal Dementia: Comparisons between Hippocampal Volumetry, Tensor-Based Morphometry and Voxel-Based Morphometry

BACKGROUND MRI is an important clinical tool for diagnosing dementia-like diseases such as Frontemporal Dementia (FTD). However there is a need to develop more accurate and standardized MRI analysis methods. OBJECTIVE To compare FTD with Alzheimer's Disease (AD) and Mild Cognitive Impairment (MCI) with three automatic MRI analysis methods - Hippocampal Volumetry (HV), Tensor-based Morphometry...

Hippocampal MRI volumetry in cognitively discordant monozygotic twin pairs.

OBJECTIVE To investigate whether hippocampal atrophy, a proxy for incipient Alzheimer's disease, can be detected in non-demented monozygotic co-twins of demented twins by using volumetric magnetic resonance imaging (MRI). METHODS Seven pairs of monozygotic female twins discordant for cognitive function (mean (SD) age 75 (4) years), and 10 age and education matched healthy controls (seven wome...

Differential diagnosis of mild cognitive impairment and Alzheimer's disease using structural MRI cortical thickness, hippocampal shape, hippocampal texture, and volumetry*

This paper presents a brain T1-weighted structural magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) biomarker that combines several individual MRI biomarkers (cortical thickness measurements, volumetric measurements, hippocampal shape, and hippocampal texture). The method was developed, trained, and evaluated using two publicly available reference datasets: a standardized dataset from the Alzheimer's Disease N...
