چکیده

Musculoskeletal conditions, often requiring rehabilitation, affect one-third of the U.S. population annually. This paper presents rehabilitation assistive technology that includes body-worn motion sensors and a mobile application extends reach physical specialist beyond clinic to ensure home exercises are performed with same precision as under clinical supervision. Assisted by in clinic, wearable user interface developed allow capture individualized unique patient’s abilities. Beyond setting, system can assist patients providing real-time corrective feedback repeat these through correct complete arc for prescribed number repetitions. An inertial measurement unit (IMU) is used on body part be exercised its pose. In this paper, we present kinematics data processing approach defining custom flexibility terms where it worn nature exercise, well parameters. The tested two perfromed healthy individual demonstrate feasibility accuracy approach. We how improve exercise adherence assisting users reaching full range stay ideal plane hold time. Preliminary results from an ongoing trial presented.

Physical Human Activity Recognition Using Wearable Sensors

This paper presents a review of different classification techniques used to recognize human activities from wearable inertial sensor data. Three inertial sensor units were used in this study and were worn by healthy subjects at key points of upper/lower body limbs (chest, right thigh and left ankle). Three main steps describe the activity recognition process: sensors' placement, data pre-proces...

Analysis of Indoor Rowing Motion using Wearable Inertial Sensors

In this exploratory work the motion of rowers is analyzed while rowing on a rowing machine. This is performed using inertial sensors that measure the orientation at several positions on the body. Using these measurements, this work provides a preliminary analysis of the differences between experienced and novice rowers, or between a good and a bad technique. The analysis shows that the measured...

A Wearable Trajectory Reconstruction System Using Inertial and Magnetic Sensors

This paper presents an inertial-sensor-based wearable device and its associated pedestrian trajectory reconstruction algorithm to reconstruct indoor pedestrian trajectories. The wearable device is composed of a triaxial accelerometer, a triaxial gyroscope, a triaxial magnetometer, a microcontroller, and a Bluetooth wireless transmission module. Users can carry the device to walk in indoor envir...

Gait Kinematic Analysis in Water Using Wearable Inertial Magnetic Sensors

Walking is one of the fundamental motor tasks executed during aquatic therapy. Previous kinematics analyses conducted using waterproofed video cameras were limited to the sagittal plane and to only one or two consecutive steps. Furthermore, the set-up and post-processing are time-consuming and thus do not allow a prompt assessment of the correct execution of the movements during the aquatic ses...

Wearable Inertial Sensors and Their Applications

2.1 Principles of Inertial Sensors A coordinate system must be defined prior to deployment of an inertial sensor for body motion measurement. If the origin of a moving coordinate system has acceleration (A0) and rotates with a gyroscopic angular velocity (ω), and if a mass (m) has the position vector (r0) and the velocity (u0) with respect to the moving coordinate system, then the inertial forc...
