High-Temperature Vibrational Analysis of the Lithium Mica: 2M2 Lepidolite

Lepidolite is widespread in the upper crust and can be used as a lithium ore. In present study, in-situ high-temperature Raman infrared spectroscopic measurements of natural Rb/Cs-free 2M2 lepidolite pegmatite were conducted up to 700 °C for investigating thermal response lepidolite. addition, single-crystal X-ray diffraction electron microprobe analyses also determine polytype composition sample. The results show that (1) temperature range from 25 °C, crystal structure not expected undergo remarkable transformations upon heating cooling; (2) stabilities hydroxyls high-charge environments are lower than those low-charge at elevated temperatures °C. As result, hydrogen ions transfer non-silicate oxygens during heating; (3) transfers between may lead dehydration Thus, lepidolites subduction zones below sufficient trigger partial melting result release subducted oceanic continental slabs exhumation.
