High Temperature Superconductivity in a Lightly Doped Quantum Spin Liquid

چکیده

We have performed density-matrix renormalization group studies of a square lattice $t$-$J$ model with small hole doping, $\delta\ll 1$, on long 4 and 6 leg cylinders. include frustration in the form second-neighbor exchange coupling, $J_2 = J_1/2$, such that undoped ($\delta=0$) "parent" state is quantum spin liquid. In contrast to relatively short range superconducting (SC) correlations been observed recent 6-leg cylinder absence frustration, we find power law SC Luttinger exponent, $K_{sc} \approx consistent strongly diverging susceptibility, $\chi \sim T^{-(2-K_{sc})}$ as temperature $T\to 0$. The spin-spin - fall exponentially suggesting "pairing" evolve smoothly from insulating parent state.

Magnetic properties of spin-orbital polarons in lightly doped cobaltates.

We present a numerical treatment of a spin-orbital-polaron model for NaxCoO2 at small hole concentration (0.7 < x 1). We demonstrate how the polarons account for the peculiar magnetic properties of this layered compound: They explain the large susceptibility; their internal degrees of freedom lead both to a negative Curie-Weiss temperature and yet to a ferromagnetic intralayer interaction, ther...

Doped spin liquid: Luttinger sum rule and low temperature order.

We analyze a model of two-leg Hubbard ladders weakly coupled by interladder tunneling. At half filling a semimetallic state with small Fermi pockets is induced beyond a threshold tunneling strength. The sign changes in the single electron Green's function relevant for the Luttinger sum rule now take place at surfaces with both zeros and infinities with important consequences for the interpretat...

Spin-gap proximity effect mechanism of high-temperature superconductivity

When holes are doped into an antiferromagnetic insulator they form a slowly fluctuating array of ‘‘topological defects’’ ~metallic stripes! in which the motion of the holes exhibits a self-organized quasi-onedimensional electronic character. The accompanying lateral confinement of the intervening Mott-insulating regions induces a spin gap or pseudogap in the environment of the stripes. We prese...

Spin correlations and magnetic susceptibilities of lightly doped antiferromagnets

We calculate the spin correlation function and the magnetic longitudinal and transverse susceptibilities of a two-dimensional antiferromagnet doped with a small concentration of holes, in the t-J model. We find that the motion of holes generates spin fluctuations which add to the quantum fluctuations, the spin correlations decaying with the inverse of the spin distance, while increasing with do...

Superconductivity in a spin liquid: A one-dimensional example.

We study a one-dimensional model of interacting conduction electrons with a twofold degenerate band away from half filling. The interaction includes an on-site Coulomb repulsion and Hund's rule coupling. We show that such one-dimensional system has a divergent Cooper pair susceptibility at T = 0, provided the Coulomb interaction U between electrons on the same orbital and the modulus of the Hun...
