High temperature mechanical integrity of selective laser melted alloy 718 evaluated by slow strain rate tests

نویسندگان

چکیده

Strain rate dependent deformation behaviours of selective laser melted Alloy 718 (IN718) are systematically studied at 550 and 650 °C by slow strain testing, with a forged counterpart as reference. Selective IN718 shows significant susceptibility to intergranular cavitation, resulting in ductility degradation decreasing rate. Detailed fractography cross section inspections employed identify the damage mechanisms. Creep rates also estimated compared conventional counterparts. The possible critical factors for inferiority time resistance discussed.

Structural Integrity of an Electron Beam Melted Titanium Alloy

Advanced manufacturing encompasses the wide range of processes that consist of "3D printing" of metallic materials. One such method is Electron Beam Melting (EBM), a modern build technology that offers significant potential for lean manufacture and a capability to produce fully dense near-net shaped components. However, the manufacture of intricate geometries will result in variable thermal cyc...

Microstructure of Laser Re-Melted AlCoCrCuFeNi High Entropy Alloy Coatings Produced by Plasma Spraying

An AlCoCrCuFeNi high-entropy alloy (HEA) coating was fabricated on a pure magnesium substrate using a two-step method, involving plasma spray processing and laser re-melting. After laser re-melting, the microporosity present in the as-sprayed coating was eliminated, and a dense surface layer was obtained. The microstructure of the laser-remelted layer exhibits an epitaxial growth of columnar de...

MECHANICAL PROPERTIES OF SELECTIVE LASER MELTED AlSi10Mg: NANO, MICRO, AND MACRO PROPERTIES

The selective laser melting (SLM) of aluminium alloys is of great current interest at both the industrial and research levels. Aluminium poses a challenge to SLM compared with other candidate materials, such as titanium alloys, stainless steels, and nickel-based alloys, because of its high thermal diffusivity and low infrared absorptivity and tendency to result in relatively porous parts. Howev...

Effects of Warm Laser Peening on Thermal Stability and High Temperature Mechanical Properties of A356 Alloy

To study the effects of warm laser peening (WLP) on the thermal stability and mechanical properties of A356 alloy, the samples were treated by WLP using a Nd:YAG solid-state laser and temperature control device. The residual stress, micro-hardness and microstructures of samples treated by WLP were observed. The result shows that the temperature significantly affects the strengthening effect of ...
