High-temperature graphitization characteristics of vitrinite and inertinite

In order to explore the graphitization characteristic differences between vitrinite and inertinite in coal, this study conducted high-temperature thermal simulation experiments (at five temperature points: 1800°C, 2100°C, 2400°C, 2700°C, 3000°C) using inertinite-rich vitrinite-rich samples as precursors. The quantitative comparison for evolution characteristics of their graphite lattice was carried out high-resolution transmission electron microscopy (HRTEM), X-ray diffractometer (XRD), Raman spectroscopy (Raman) techniques. HRTEM revealed that an evident increase carbon layer numbers degree extension observed with increasing treatment temperature, XRD showed variation parameters ( d 002 /La/Lc) data defects (R2/R3) temperature. It discussed about construction processes vitrinite, throughout entire range experiment, spacing always smaller than indicating a higher graphitization. exhibited uniform smooth state heating process, while “inert” 1800°C 2100°C values stagnated near at 0.3440 nm). With simulated defect level (R2 R3) rapidly decreased below inertinite, range, demonstrated superior healing ability terms both rate capability compared inertinite. Under simulation, three-dimensional elimination synchronous characteristics. On other hand, formation evolutionary trend “first construction, followed by gradual elimination”.
