High-Speed and Low-Load Twin-Roll Casting of Al–5%Mg Strip

A conventional twin-roll caster usually casts strips at a speed slower than 2 m/min and roll load greater kN/mm. vertical-type high-speed can cast aluminum alloy higher 10 smaller 550 N/mm due to the effect of large thermal conductivity copper rolls, compared with that steel rolls. However, properties an strip 140 30 are not clear. In this study, Al–5%Mg were loads 88 using caster. The effects on cracking surface, tensile mechanical properties, microstructure investigated. Rotating rolls stopped during casting, progression centerline segregation between was Centerline surface lower N/mm. N/mm, elongation in width direction decreased cracking. results demonstrate very low improves strip.
