High-Quality Syngas Production by Chemical Looping Gasification of Bituminite Based on NiFe2O4 Oxygen Carrier

Chemical looping gasification (CLG) is an effective coal utilization technology. In this work, the CLG of bituminite was investigated through fixed-bed batch experiments using NiFe2O4 oxygen carrier (OC) to achieve high-quality syngas. The changes in phase during chemical reaction and mechanism were explored. results show that elevated temperature adding a fraction steam facilitate reaction. Adding appropriate amount ZrO2 into modification with alkali metal can enhance performance carrier. A carbon conversion 95% syngas (CO H2) selectivity 86% obtained under optimized conditions 950 °C, oxygen-carrier-to-bituminite (O/B) ratio 7:3, NiFe2O4/ZrO2 rate 0.08 mL/min. Modification by doping significantly process. Alkali lignin ash has more pronounced modifying effect on carriers than K2CO3.
