High-intensity interval running impairs subsequent upper limb strength performance

چکیده

BACKGROUND This study compared the effect of treadmill running on subsequent upper limb exercise performance in young men. METHODS Seventeen men (24.8±5.2 years) completed a: 1) bench press resistance control session; 2) interval protocol followed by and 3) continuous session. Four sets were performed at 80% 1RM up to volitional failure. In protocol, eight sprints 40s 100% velocity maximal oxygen uptake, with 20s passive between them performed, whereas 30-min 90% heart rate corresponding second ventilatory threshold was performed. The number repetitions each set condition recorded using a two-way repeated measures ANOVA. RESULTS (18.7±4.9 repetitions) resulted reduction (21.4±5.4 (P=0.002); did not affect (20.6±4.4 repetitions). total reduced from all protocols (P<0.001). CONCLUSIONS results evidenced an impairment strength after high intensity interval, but moderate running, which has implication for concurrent training planning prescription.

Acute high-intensity interval running reduces postprandial lipemia in boys.

INTRODUCTION Acute moderate-intensity exercise reduces postprandial lipemia in boys. However, the effect of high-intensity exercise has not been investigated. This study examined the effect of low-volume, high-intensity interval running (HIIR) on postprandial plasma triacylglycerol (TAG) concentrations. METHODS Fifteen healthy, active boys (means ± SD; age = 11.8 ± 0.4 yr, body mass = 42.8 ± ...

High-Intensity Intermittent Exercise and its Effects on Heart Rate Variability and Subsequent Strength Performance

UNLABELLED Prupose: To investigate the effects of a 5-km high-intensity interval exercise (HIIE) on heart rate variability (HRV) and subsequent strength performance. METHODS Nine trained males performed a control session composed of a half-squat strength exercise (4 × 80% of one repetition maximum-1 RM) in isolation and 30-min, 1-, 4-, 8-, and 24-h after an HIIE (1-min at the velocity peak:1-...

Effects of rest interval on isokinetic strength and functional performance after short-term high intensity training.

OBJECTIVES The ability to maximally generate active muscle tension during resistance training has been established to be a primary determinant for strength development. The influence of intrasession rest intervals may have a profound effect on strength gains subsequent to short-term high intensity training. The purpose of this study was to examine the effects of rest interval on strength and fu...

The effect of adding caffeine to postexercise carbohydrate feeding on subsequent high-intensity interval-running capacity compared with carbohydrate alone.

The aim of this study was to test the hypothesis that adding caffeine to postexercise carbohydrate (CHO) feedings improves subsequent high-intensity interval-running capacity compared with CHO alone. In a repeated-measures design, 6 men performed a glycogen-depleting exercise protocol until volitional exhaustion in the morning. Immediately after and at 1, 2, and 3 hr postexercise, participants ...

Analysis of repeated high-intensity running performance in professional soccer.

The aims of this study were twofold: (1) to characterize repeated high-intensity movement activity profiles of a professional soccer team in official match-play; and (2) to inform and verify the construct validity of tests commonly used to determine repeated-sprint ability in soccer by investigating the relationship between the results from a test of repeated-sprint ability and repeated high-in...
