High hydrogen isotopes permeation resistance in (TiVAlCrZr)O multi-component metal oxide glass coating

Developing ceramic coating with high hydrogen isotopes permeation resistance is an urgent task in many fields such as fusion reactor systems, storage/transportation, and fuel cell. In this work, a (TiVAlCrZr)O multi-component metal oxide glass (MCMOG) developed new type of barrier (HIPB), the diffusion behavior deuterium MCMOG studied for first time. Compared reduction factor (DPRF) 51 amorphous alumina (at 587 °C 0.65 µm), 29 nm dense has around 27 times enhancement DPRF 1420 at 550 °C. Based on first-principles calculations, we show that significantly suppressed MCMOGs attributed to sluggish arising from highly rugged energy landscape, which induced by diversity electronic band structures near Fermi level. addition, oxygen vacancies strongly affect PRF, where PRF fully oxidized layer (29 nm) 200 compared same thickness containing vacancies. Therefore, promising HIPB material.
