چکیده
We report experiments on high-amplitude sound wave propagation in an acoustic metamaterial composed of air-filled waveguide periodically side-loaded by holes. In addition to the linear viscothermal and radiation losses, high amplitude waves at locations side holes introduce nonlinear losses. The latter result amplitude-dependent reflection, transmission, absorption, which we experimentally characterize. First, evidence that losses change nature device from a reflective absorbing one, showing possibility use system as absorber. Second, study second-harmonic generation its beating phenomenon both analytically. find when considering fundamental second harmonic, cannot be neglected. Our results reveal role proposed also provide quite accurate analytical model capture effect such

Acoustic transmission line metamaterial with negative/zero/positive refractive index
A one-dimensional acoustic negative refractive index metamaterial based on the transmission line approach is presented. This structure implements the dual transmission line concept extensively investigated in microwave engineering. It consists of an acoustic waveguide periodically loaded with membranes realizing the function of series “capacitances” and transversally connected open channels rea...
متن کاملInvestigation on acoustic behavior of acoustic porous absorbers to absorb sound energy and transmission loss index
In this study, the acoustic properties of porous absorbents with different porosity levels have been evaluated using different mathematical models. These models use one or more parameters of materials for calculating acoustic characteristics. In all of these models, materials are considered as equivalent fluid and reactionary characteristics have not been taken into account.
متن کاملSound Pressure Level Gain in an Acoustic Metamaterial Cavity
The inherent attenuation of a homogeneous viscous medium limits radiation propagation, thereby restricting the use of many high-frequency acoustic devices to only short-range applications. Here, we design and experimentally demonstrate an acoustic metamaterial localization cavity which is used for sound pressure level (SPL) gain using double coiled up space like structures thereby increasing th...
متن کاملEmission Enhancement of Sound Emitters using an Acoustic Metamaterial Cavity
The emission enhancement of sound without electronic components has wide applications in a variety of remote systems, especially when highly miniaturized (smaller than wavelength) structures can be used. The recent advent of acoustic metamaterials has made it possible to realize this. In this study, we propose, design, and demonstrate a new class of acoustic cavity using a double-walled metamat...
