High Abilities or Giftedness in Integrated High-School Education: Perceptions of Mathematics Teachers

Background: The identification of the first ability or gifted students at Federal Institute Sul-Rio-Grandense (IFSul), Campus Sapucaia do Sul, raised need to analyse mathematics teachers’ perceptions subject in institute, intending professionalise attention offered these students. Objectives: This article sought present and reflect on how seven teachers integrated high school understand abilities giftedness. Design: Qualitative approach, participant observation, interpretive descriptive data analysis. Setting participants: study is part a doctoral research involving who work regular classes metropolitan region Porto Alegre. Data collection analysis: were collected through semi-structured interview, their analysis was inspired by descriptive-interpretive Results: Although lacking theoretical depth, concept characteristics giftedness are close theories presented current legislation. Conclusions: It necessary processes assistance high-ability/gifted campus, which foreseen project continuing education.
