Heterostructured <scp> Mn <sub>3</sub> O <sub>4</sub> ‐MnS Multi‐Shelled </scp> Hollow Spheres for Enhanced Polysulfide Regulation in Lithium–Sulfur Batteries

Constructing heterojunctions and hollow multi-shelled structures can render materials with fascinating physicochemical properties, have been regarded as two promising strategies to overcome the severe shuttling sluggish kinetics of polysulfide in lithium–sulfur (Li–S) batteries. However, a single strategy only take limited effect. Modulating catalytic hosts synergistic effects are urgently desired. Herein, Mn3O4-MnS heterogeneous spheres meticulously designed by controlled sulfuration Mn2O3 spheres, then applied advanced encapsulation for Li–S Benefiting from separated spatial confinement structure, ample exposed active sites built-in electric field interface, between Mn3O4 (strong adsorption) MnS (fast conversion) components, assembled battery achieves prominent rate capability decent cyclability (0.016% decay per cycle at 2 C, 1000 cycles). More crucially, satisfactory areal capacity reaches up 7.1 mAh cm−2 even high sulfur loading (8.0 mg cm−2) lean electrolyte (E/S = 4.0 μL mg−1) conditions. This work will provide inspiration rational design heterostructure various electrocatalysis applications.
