HETEROSIS AND HETEROTIC GROUPING EFFECTS ON GRAIN YIELD, HEIGHT, TILLER DENSITY, AND DAYS TO HEADING IN HYBRID RICE (ORYZA

چکیده
Heterotic groups are necessary for high vigor in hybrid rice. However, hybrids produced from crosses between parents different rice subspecies (i.e., Indica × Japonica) have extensive incompatibility issues exhibited by low seed sets. The study objectives were to evaluate the heterosis grain yield and yield-related traits parental genetic distances (PGDs) demonstrate heterotic group approach From PGDs, eight three assigned PGD groups, respectively. Neighbor-joining clustering model-based population structure analyses classified into four with found consisting of intra-subpopulation intersubpopulation crosses, Replicated trials conducted at Beaumont, Texas, transpired 2019 2020. normal sets, least one each hybrid's determined possess wide compatibility S5n allele sets crosses. Trait standard values estimates included number days heading, plant height, tiller density, yield. Higher trait density occurred than group, especially inter-subpopulation indica had consistent positive correlations (r = 0.41 0.60) (0.28 0.36) both years. PGDs aid determining highly cross combinations forming groups. grouping is advisable through cluster genome-wide markers instead identifying genetically-distant based on pedigree information.

Effects of nitrogen and tiller type on grain yield and physiological responses in rice
The increasing food demands from an expanding population necessitate global efforts to increase crop production and ensure food security. The rate of nitrogen (N) fertilizer application is strongly related to crop yield. However, although the application of N fertilizer significantly increases the number of tillers in rice, late emerging tillers usually produce lower yields compared with early ...
متن کاملEvaluation and grouping of rice (Oryza sativa L.) genotypes of Central and West Asia using agronomic traits and grain yield
Rice is the staple food of half of the world's population and one of the most important crops in Central and West Asia. To assess variation in some important agronomic traits and grouping of rice genotypes, this study was performed and 49 genotypes from Azerbaijan, Kazakhstan, Afghanistan, Turkey, Kyrgyzstan, Iraq, and Uzbekistan along with 7 genotypes from Iran were evaluated using randomized ...
متن کاملHierarchical additive effects on heterosis in rice (Oryza sativa L.)
Exploitation of heterosis in crops has contributed greatly to improvement in global food and energy production. In spite of the pervasive importance of heterosis, a complete understanding of its mechanisms has remained elusive. In this study, a small test-crossed rice population was constructed to investigate the formation mechanism of heterosis for 13 traits. The results of the relative mid-pa...
متن کاملOsMPH1 regulates plant height and improves grain yield in rice
Plant height is a major trait affecting yield potential in rice. Using a large-scale hybrid transcription factor approach, we identified the novel MYB-like transcription factor OsMPH1 (MYB-like gene of Plant Height 1), which is involved in the regulation of plant height in rice. Overexpression of OsMPH1 leads to increases of plant height and grain yield in rice, while knockdown of OsMPH1 leads ...
متن کاملGenetic composition of yield heterosis in an elite rice hybrid.
Heterosis refers to the superior performance of hybrids relative to the parents. Utilization of heterosis has contributed tremendously to the increased productivity in many crops for decades. Although there have been a range of studies on various aspects of heterosis, the key to understanding the biological mechanisms of heterotic performance in crop hybrids is the genetic basis, much of which ...
