Parametric Herding
A parametric version of herding is formulated. The nonlinear mapping between consecutive time slices is learned by a form of self-supervised training. The resulting dynamical system generates pseudo-samples that resemble the original data. We show how this parametric herding can be successfully used to compress a dataset consisting of binary digits. It is also verified that high compression rat...
متن کاملStabilities of Stock States in Chinese Stock Markets
We study the evolution of the correlation-based clusters of stocks, which usually accord with business groups. By segmenting the whole time series into several overlapping segments, we trace the dynamical evolution of each business sectors in terms of the multi-factor model and especially treat the stock prices of Shanghai composites that are not incorporated into developed markets of the finan...
متن کاملInstitutional herding in international markets
This paper studies herding behavior of institutional investors in international markets. First, we document the existence of wide-spread herding in 41 countries (referred to as ‘‘target countries’’ hereafter) in the sample. We then examine the relation between contemporaneous institutional demand and future returns and find that institutional herding stabilizes prices. Next, we examine the rela...
متن کاملA new non-parametric approach for suppliers selection
In this paper we propose a simple non-parametric model for multiple crite-ria supplier selection problem. The proposed model does not generate a zeroweight for a certain criterion and ranks the suppliers without solving the modeln times (one linear programming (LP) for each supplier) and therefore allowsthe manager to get faster results. The methodology is illustrated using anexample.
متن کاملRational Herding in Microloan Markets
Microloan markets allow individual borrowers to raise funding from multiple individual lenders. We use a unique panel dataset which tracks the funding dynamics of borrower listings on Prosper.com, the largest microloan market in the United States. We find evidence of rational herding among lenders. Well-funded borrower listings tend to attract more funding after we control for unobserved listin...
