چکیده
Abstract Tahitian bridal veil [ Gibasis pellucida (M. Martens & Galeotti) D.R. Hunt], a Central and South America native plant that is often confused with another more well-known invasive plant, small leaf spiderwort ( Tradescantia fluminensis Vell.), has become in natural areas throughout Florida. However, very little known regarding herbicide control or other methods. To begin the process of developing recommendations for land managers who are working to G. , multiple postemergence herbicides were screened efficacy shaded greenhouse determine active ingredients and/or combinations warrant further investigation under field conditions. Nine different combinations, including glyphosate, triclopyr acid, 2,4-D + triclopyr, aminopyralid, 2,4-D, amine, metsulfuron-methyl, fluroxypyr, glufosinate, applied at standard label rates compared nontreated group. Visual ratings taken 2, 4, 8 wk after treatment (WAT), shoot dry weights determined trial conclusion (8 WAT). Data showed glufosinate (acid amine) provided highest level control, as evidenced by (100% complete control) fresh weight reduction, followed (∼70%) fluroxypyr (∼50% control). Metsulfuron-methyl lowest results similar those plants on most evaluation dates.

A simple criterion for controlling selection bias
Controlling selection bias, a statistical error caused by preferential sampling of data, is a fundamental problem in machine learning and statistical inference. This paper presents a simple criterion for controlling selection bias in the odds ratio, a widely used measure for association between variables, that connects the nature of selection bias with the graph modeling the selection mechanism...
متن کامل1442 - 6951 Export Demand for Tahitian Black Pearls
French Polynesia exports more than 90 per cent of its pearl production, making it the world’s largest exporter of Tahitian black pearls. Tahitian black pearl exports are therefore crucial for the Tahitian economy as they accounted for an average of 50 per cent of total export earnings, for the latest data available, for the years 2004, 2005, and 2006. This means that export performance not only...
متن کاملEvolved polygenic herbicide resistance in Lolium rigidum by low-dose herbicide selection within standing genetic variation
The interaction between environment and genetic traits under selection is the basis of evolution. In this study, we have investigated the genetic basis of herbicide resistance in a highly characterized initially herbicide-susceptible Lolium rigidum population recurrently selected with low (below recommended label) doses of the herbicide diclofop-methyl. We report the variability in herbicide re...
متن کاملControlling uncertainty in aptamer selection.
The search for high-affinity aptamers for targets such as proteins, small molecules, or cancer cells remains a formidable endeavor. Systematic Evolution of Ligands by EXponential Enrichment (SELEX) offers an iterative process to discover these aptamers through evolutionary selection of high-affinity candidates from a highly diverse random pool. This randomness dictates an unknown population dis...
متن کاملDialectics of the Veil
W.E.B. Du Bois's concept of "the veil," first fully articulated in The Souls of Black Folk (1903), contains the most nuanced and powerful theory of race and racism ever developed. Du Bois understands the veil dialectically. This philosophical term "dialectic" refers to a relationship that simultaneously embodies both antagonism and interdependence, that develops over historical time, and that l...
