چکیده

In the era of antimicrobial resistance, fungal pathogens are not an exception. Several strategies, including stewardship programs and high throughput screening new drugs, being implemented. recent studies have demonstrated effectiveness plant compounds with antifungal activity. this systematic review, we examine use natural as a possible avenue to fight infections produced by Candida albicans, most common human pathogen. Electronic literature searches were conducted through PubMed/MEDLINE, Cochrane, Science Direct limited 5 years. A total 131 articles included, 186 plants extracts evaluated. Although majority exhibited activities against C. albicans (both in vivo vitro), strongest activity was obtained from Lawsonia inermis, Pelargonium graveolens, Camellia sinensis, Mentha piperita, Citrus latifolia. The main components proven phenolic such gallic acid, thymol, flavonoids (especially catechin), polyphenols tannins, terpenoids saponins. incorporation nanotechnology greatly enhances properties these compounds. Further research is needed fully characterize composition all herbal well mechanisms action active
