Assessment of 4 Cases of Kidney Transplantation from Hepatitis C Virus Antibody-Positive and RNA-Negative Donors to Antibody-Negative Recipients
Hepatitis C virus (HCV) infection is significantly more prevalent among hemodialysis patients than the general population, and caution is required when evaluating these patients for kidney transplantation. It has been reported that HCV infection may develop in uninfected recipients receiving organs from HCV-infected donors and that transplantation increases the risk of liver disease and mortali...

متن کاملStudy of anticardiolipin antibody in hepatitis C virus-positive patients
Several antibodies, including anticardiolipin antibodies (ACA), have been detected among chronically infected hepatitis C virus (HCV) patients. The present work aimed at ascertaining the clinical significance of ACA levels among HCV infection associated with two commonly encountered diseases, thrombocytopenia and arteriovenous-shunt malfunction. Six groups were studied, 11 HCV-positive thromboc...
متن کاملUse of hepatitis B core antibody-positive liver allograft in hepatitis C virus-positive and -negative recipients with use of short course of hepatitis B immunoglobulin and Lamivudine.
INTRODUCTION With the shortage of donor organs, increasing number of hepatitis B core antibody (HBcAb)-positive [HBcAb(+)] liver allografts are being used for liver transplantation (LTx) in patients who are HBcab-negative [HBsAb(-)]. This study was aimed at assessing outcomes for hepatitis C virus (HCV)-positive [HCV(+)] and HCV-negative [HCV(-)] patients who received HBcAb(+) liver grafts from...
متن کاملFulminant hepatitis B in an infant born to a hepatitis Be antibody positive, DNA negative carrier.
A boy was born to a mother who was a chronic hepatitis B virus (HBV) carrier. She was hepatitis Be (HBe) antibody positive and HBe antigen and HBV-DNA negative. The boy had not received hepatitis B vaccine and died from fulminant hepatitis at 3 months of age. This case demonstrates the need to vaccinate babies of HBe antibody positive, HBe antigen negative carriers.
