Erf2011-227 Power Harvesting in a Helicopter Lag Damper
Currently the lifespan of rotor blades is determined based on a conservative lifetime calculation. This leads to blades being discarded while they still possess a significant residual amount of flight-hours. Blade health monitoring systems are desired to actively track the strains in the blade thereby drastically extending the technical life expectancy. A major drawback is in the need for an el...
متن کاملRobust Stabilization of an R/c Helicopter
This paper presents robust stabilization for an R/C helicopter whose degree of freedom is reduced by fixing at a (joint) point. In our previous paper, we have achieved stable control for the R/C helicopter using fuzzy model-based nonlinear control. However, after simplifying the nonlinear dynamics, we have replaced the simplified nonlinear dynamics with a Takagi-Sugeno fuzzy model. In this pape...
متن کاملFour Rotors Helicopter Yaw and Altitude Stabilization
In this paper an appropriate four rotors helicopter nonlinear dynamic model for identi cation and control law synthesis is obtained via modelization procedure where several phenomena are included like gyroscopic effects and aerodynamic friction. The numerical simulations of the model obtained show that the control law stabilizes the four rotors helicopter with good tracking.
متن کاملInfluence of Motion Cueing on Helicopter Stabilization
Helicopters in flight are unstable, much like an inverse pendulum, and hovering at one spot requires the pilot to do a considerable amount of active control. It is assumed that they do not only use visual information, but also vestibular and somatosensory cues. To test this hypothesis, we measured helicopter hovering performance of human subjects in a simulator. Which senses do pilots use to st...
متن کاملIdenti cation and Stabilization of a Model Helicopter inHoverPascale Bendotti
The objective is to design a model based controller for a small radio-controlled helicopter in hover. To this end, a multi-input multi-output state-space model is identiied from experimental data using linear estimation. A stabilizing H1 controller with setpoint tracking is designed and is compared to a standard LQG controller.
