Height-diameter model for natural black pine stands in Eğirdir region: Quantile regression approach

چکیده

Black pine (Pinus nigra JF Arnold.) is one of the most economically and ecologically important tree species in Turkey. In this context, reliable accurate information about current status, growth yield characteristics these forests needed for sustainable management black forests. One components models height-diameter relationships. Diameter height variables are also measurement tools forest inventory studies. Since a standing cannot be measured as easily breast diameter, often estimated function diameter For reason, estimation has great importance forestry activity. study, model was developed natural stands Eğirdir region using Quantile Regression (QR) techniques. Individual Tree Diameter, Height, and Volume Functions for Longleaf Pine

Currently, little information is available to estimate individual tree attributes for longleaf pine (Pinus palustris Mill.), an important tree species of the southeastern United States. The majority of available models are local, relying on stem diameter outside bark at breast height (dbh, cm) and not including stand-level parameters. We developed a set of individual tree equations to predict t...

Evaluating of Different Height-Diameter Nonlinear Models for Hornbeam in Uneven-Aged Stands (Case Study: Golestan Rezaeian Forest)

Projection of stand development over time relies on accurate height-diameter functions. In this study, we evaluated the capability of 43 nonlinear models to estimate hornbeam heights in a portion Rezaeian experimental forest in Gorgan, Golestan province. We applied a systematic random sampling method to collect field data within a 150×200 meter network (3.33% intensity). It resulted in 200 circ...

Interregional nonlinear height–diameter model with random coefficients for stone pine in Spain

An individual-tree height–diameter model was developed for stone pine (Pinus pinea L.) in Spain. Five biparametric nonlinear equations were fitted and evaluated based on a data set consisting of 8614 trees from 455 plots located in the four most important regions where the species occurs in Spain. Because of the problem of high correlation among observations taken from the same sampling unit, a...

A Nonparametric Model-based Approach to Inference for Quantile Regression

In several regression applications, a different structural relationship might be anticipated for the higher or lower responses than the average responses. In such cases, quantile regression analysis can uncover important features that would likely be overlooked by traditional mean regression. We develop a Bayesian method for fully nonparametric model-based quantile regression. The approach invo...

A Survival Model for Individual Shortleaf Pine Trees in Even-Aged Natural Stands

-A model was developed that predicts the probability of survival for individual shortleaf pine (Pinus echinatu Mill.) trees growing in even-aged natural stands. Data for model development were obtained from the first two measurements of permanently established plots located in natural ly occurring short leaf pine forests on the Ouachita and Ozark National Forests in western Arkansas and eastern...
