Heavy Metals in Post-Exploitation Reservoirs—The Bagry Lake Case Study (Poland)

The paper presents the research study on concentration of Fe, Mn, Cu, Pb, Zn, Cd and Ca in sediment as well supernatant (layer water just above sediment) Bagry Lake, Cracow (Poland); was not included analysis. There are a number works literature concentrations metals environment flow-through dam reservoirs factors influencing their distribution. These were created for various purposes, e.g., supply, flood protection, leveling flows rivers recreational purposes. Since it is difficult to find information distribution aquatic post-exploitation reservoirs, this work aims fill gap. additional purpose assess potential influence metals’ presence Lake benthic organisms. Correlations between volatile mineral fractions particle size ≥0.06 mm <0.06 determined. Except cadmium, showed positive correlation with fraction granulometry (a clay-silty fraction). It has been shown that metals, both sediment, an anthropogenic origin related previous on-lake operations, nearby modern technical infrastructure. Statistical models used measure strength relationships sediments.
