Heavy Metal Contamination and Potential Ecological Risk Assessment in Sediments of Lake Bafa (Turkey)

نویسندگان

چکیده

This study examined the spatio-temporality of heavy metal concentrations (Al, Cd, Co, Cr, Fe, Mn, Ni, Pb and Zn) in sediments Lake Bafa, one most important wetlands Turkey’s Aegean region. The evaluated sediment quality according to threshold effect concentration (TEC) probable (PEC) values based on guidelines (SQG), provided a potential ecological risk assessment (PERI) along with indices such as geoaccumulation index (NIgeo), enrichment factor (EF), contamination (CF), pollution load (PLI). For this purpose, surface from 10 different points core samples three were seasonally collected nine metals determined by ICP-MS. findings indicated following accumulation order sediment: Fe > Al Mn Ni Cr Zn Co Al, being high samples. According NIgeo, very slightly polluted at stations, while five stations Cd. Regarding EF, lake was terms accumulation. CF results that under pressure pollution. PLI significant hazard all PERI analysis moderate some stations. As comprehensive studies applying are evaluating lake’s sustainability.

The current status of heavy metal in lake sediments from China: Pollution and ecological risk assessment

Heavy metal contamination in lake sediments is a serious problem, particularly in developing countries such as China. To evaluate heavy metal pollution and risk of contamination in lake sediments on a national scale in China, we collated available data in the literature of the last 10 years on lake sediments polluted with heavy metals from 24 provinces in China. Based on these data, we used sed...

Distribution, sources and ecological risk assessment of heavy metals in surface sediments from Lake Taihu, China

The distribution, sources and ecological risk of heavy metals in surface sediments from Lake Taihu were studied. Results showed that the measured heavy metals had varied spatial distribution patterns, indicating that they had complex origins and controlling factors. Pearson’s correlation analysis revealed that the total phosphorus and the loss on ignition were positively correlated with the mea...
