Hadrons in Dense Matter

Physical reason behind the mass-shift of vector mesons (ρ, ω, φ) in nuclear matter is discussed in the Walecka model and in QCD sum rules. Using analytic formulas for the mass-shift valid at low densities, it is shown that the energy dependent part of the self-energy in medium (wave function renormalization) is a main source for the negative massshift, while the energy independent part (the pla...

Hadrons in Dense Matter

There is currently enormous interest in the investigation of how hadron properties may be altered by immersion in matter. There is strong evidence of a reduction in the mass of the rho meson from relativistic heavy ion collisions as well as a hint from a recent experiment on photoproduction in light nuclei. We briefly review the main theoretical ideas which lead one to expect the mass of a hadr...

Lifetimes of Heavy Hadrons *

We review current status of theoretical predictions of lifetimes of heavy hadrons in heavy-quark expansion. We present a calculation of subleading 1/m b corrections to spectator effects in the ratios of beauty hadron lifetimes. We find that these effects are sizable and should be taken into account in systematic analyses of heavy hadron lifetimes. In particular, the inclusion of 1/m b correctio...

Heavy B Hadrons

The CDF and DØ experiments have successfully collected data since start of the Run II at the Tevatron Collider in 2001. The large B-meson production cross-section and the possibility to produce all kind of B hadron states, opened to the two collaborations the possibility to study with high precision the tiny effects of CP-violation in the Heavy B hadrons system, and to search for new physics ef...

Masses of Heavy Hadrons

An estimate has been made of the masses of heavy hadrons in nonrelativistic quark model, which includes spin and flavor-dependent hyperfine splitting for two quarks. The effect of variation of the wavefunction value at origin i.e. |ψ(0)| and the strong coupling constant αs, with flavor, has also been included in calculating the mass values.
