Heat-stimuli controllability of shape memory thermoplastic epoxy filaments by adding polyethylene glycol

This study prepared shape-memory thermoplastic epoxy (TEP)-polyethylene glycol (PEG) filaments for the first time, and heat-stimuli controllability of shape memory function was innovatively endowed by adding PEG in an environmentally friendly way. regulates glass transition temperature PEG-modified (TEP–PEG) without interfering with polymerization reaction epoxy. The melt spinning TEP–PEG is also reduced from 300 °C to 220 °C, effect improved. After modification, Young's modulus drawn pellets higher at room temperature. developed have excellent high recovery rates 93.1%–99.0%, fixation ranging 95.8% 99.1% are improved after modification. Furthermore, controllable stimuli temperatures 69 105 °C. Additionally, stress modification increased 1.77 MPa, maximum 97 58 as content increases 15 wt%. problems difficult processing uncontrollable TEP were solved this study. TEP-PEG demonstrated thermal actuation capabilities shown greater application potential actuation, smart textiles, artificial muscles.
