چکیده

Three garden vegetables—radish, carrot and lettuce—were cultivated in a pot experiment using two soils from the Příbram area polluted mainly by cadmium (Cd), zinc (Zn), lead (Pb) chromium (Cr). The of district, Czech Republic, are heavily as result atmospheric deposition toxic elements originating historic lead–silver mining smelting activities. results showed that lettuce absorbed highest amounts (Cd 28 30, Cr 12 13, Zn 92 205 mg·kg−1 DW), except Pb, which was higher radish (30 49 DW). Changes macronutrient contents edible parts were not found, for sulfur. A total free amino acids (fAAs) accumulation shown all vegetables more contaminated soil, with fAA content being radish. group essential fAAs reached 7–24% vegetables. risk to human health characterized target hazard quotient index (HI). cumulative effect consumption HI > 1 possible non-carcinogenic effects carrot. decreased order Cd Pb Zn. carcinogenic (0.00054, 0.00026, 0.00003). These values confirmed adult population studied is at high if this consumed daily.

Health risk assessment of heavy metals in soils and vegetables from wastewater irrigated area, Beijing-Tianjin city cluster, China.

The possible health risks of heavy metals contamination to local population through food chain were evaluated in Beijing and Tianjin city cluster, China, where have a long history of sewage irrigation. The transfer factors (TF) for heavy metals from soil to vegetables for six elements including Cu, Zn, Pb, Cr, As and Cd were calculated and the pollution load indexes (PLI) were also assessed. Re...

Ecology and health in risk analysis of polluted soils

Risk analysis can be used as a scientific tool for addressing the health of ecosystems. Here we describe a protocol for characterizing risks in the ecosystems of several polluted soil scenarios in the Madrid Community (Central Spain). Our starting hypothesis was that to recover the health of degraded ecosystems that could affect public health, an ecotoxicological diagnosis of each site is requi...

Bioaccumulation of Antimony and Arsenic in Vegetables and Health Risk Assessment in the Superlarge Antimony-Mining Area, China

Heavy metal pollution in soils caused by mining and smelting has attracted worldwide attention for its potential health risks to residents. This paper studies the concentrations and accumulations of Sb and As in both soils and vegetables and the human health risks of Sb and As in vegetables from Xikuangshan (XKS) Sb mine, Hunan, China. Results showed that the soils were severely polluted by Sb ...

Heavy metals health risk assessment for population via consumption of vegetables grown in old mining area; a case study: Banat County, Romania

BACKGROUND The aim of this study is to measure the levels of heavy metals (Fe, Mn, Zn, Cu, Ni, Cd and Pb) found in common vegetables (parsley, carrot, onion, lettuce, cucumber and green beans) grown in contaminated mining areas compared with those grown in reference clear area and to determine their potential detrimental effects via calculation of the daily metal intake (DImetal) and Target Haz...
