H/D Exchange for 4-Aminopyridine: Application on MAO in Sera of Multiple Sclerosis Patients

Multiple sclerosis (MS) is a neurological disorder characterized by complex array of symptoms affectingmovement and the senses. The study designed over two stages, first 4-aminopyridine went under H/D exchange, thenboth deuterated non-deuterated 4-AP was applied on serum activity serummonoamine oxidase estimated. included 120 subject which divided groups, controland patients, each contain 60 subject. MAO significantly (P<0.01) higherin than that control. has decreased thepresence 4-AP, well further significant decrease presence 4-AP. In conclusion,4-AP inhibitory effect activity, replacement hydrogens with deuterium gives anenhancement this effect.
