Hardware-in-the-Loop Simulations with Umbra Conditions for Spacecraft Rendezvous with PMD Visual Sensors

چکیده

This paper addresses the validation of a robust vision-based pose estimation technique using Photonic Mixer Device (PMD) sensor as single visual in close-range phase spacecraft rendezvous. First, it was necessary to integrate developed hybrid navigation for PMD into hardware-in-the-loop (HIL) rendezvous system by German Aerospace Center (DLR). Thereafter, HIL tests were conducted European Proximity Operation Simulator (EPOS) with sun simulation and total darkness. For future missions an active sensor, e.g., camera, could be useful use only its own illumination during penumbra or umbra, instead additional flash light. In some tests, rotational rate target object also tuned. Unlike other works, here we present first time closed-loop approaches depth amplitude images sensor. EPOS laboratory, Argos3D camera used at range 8 5.5 m; performance showed promising results.

Robust Controller Design Based-on Aerodynamic Load Simulator Identification Driven by PMSM for Hardware-in-the-Loop Simulations

Aerodynamic load simulators generate the required time varying load to test the actuator’s performance in the laboratory. Electric Load Simulator (ELS) as one of variety of the dynamic load simulators should follows the rotation of the Under Test Actuator (UTA) and applies the desired torque to UTA’s rotor at the same time. In such a situation, a very large torque is imposed to the ELS from the...

Visual Pose Estimation System for Autonomous Rendezvous of Spacecraft

In this work, we consider a tracker spacecraft equipped with a short-range vision system that must visually identify a target and determining its relative angular velocity and relative linear velocity using only visual information from an onboard camera. By means of visual feature detection and tracking across rapid, successive frames, features detected in two-dimensional images are matched and...

Robust H∞ Control for Spacecraft Rendezvous with a Noncooperative Target

The robust H(∞) control for spacecraft rendezvous with a noncooperative target is addressed in this paper. The relative motion of chaser and noncooperative target is firstly modeled as the uncertain system, which contains uncertain orbit parameter and mass. Then the H(∞) performance and finite time performance are proposed, and a robust H(∞) controller is developed to drive the chaser to rendez...
