چکیده

Commercial quail farming is economically viable and feasible because quails are resistant tovarious diseases. But despite this reported resistance, little known about its resistance tohaemoparasites. This study evaluates the haematological changes haemoparasiticinfection of commercially raised quails. Fifty-seven adult on deep litter wererandomly selected for blood sampling in study. Two milliliters was collectedaseptically complete count while smears were used determination ofhaemoparasite morphological characteristics. Haemoproteus spp. Plasmodium gallinaceum, Leucocytozoon identified 38 (67%) positive forsingle or mixed infection, 29 (51%) single infection 9(16%) mixedinfection. There a (P<0.05) decrease PCV, Hb, RBC counts, an increase inTWBC eosinophil birds with haemoparasite as compared to uninfected birds. There total white cell heterophil plasmodiumpositive birds. Also, cell, heterophil, lymphocyte were(P<0.05) increased also observed inbirds infection. The high incidence haemoparasitic apparentlyhealthy quail, significant indices deviated from normal, consistentwith reports various disease diseases which thus includeshaemoparasitic

Spatial Orientation in Japanese Quails (Coturnix coturnix japonica)

Finding a given location can be based on a variety of strategies, for example on the estimation of spatial relations between landmarks, called spatial orientation. In galliform birds, spatial orientation has been demonstrated convincingly in very young domestic chicks. We wanted to know whether adult Japanese quails (Coturnix coturnix japonica) without food deprivation are also able to use spat...

Biochemical parameters in Japanese quails Coturnix coturnix japonica infected with coccidia and treated with Toltrazuril.

The activity of aspartate aminotransferase, alanine aminotransferase and lactate dehydrogenase, total protein, albumin and cholesterol levels were determined in the blood serum of Japanese quails infected with coccidia and treated with Baycox (active ingredient: toltrazuril). Lower levels of AST and ALT activity were noted in treated birds regardless of the applied Baycox dose. The biochemical ...

Using Processed Feeds For Laying Quails (Coturnix coturnix japonica)

The aim of this experiment was to determine the productive performance and egg quality of Japanese quails fed different types of processed rations (mash, extruded, or pelleted). One hundred and fortyfour 18-w-old quails (Coturnix coturnix japonica) were housed in galvanized wire cages and fed a 21.50% CP and 2850 kcal ME/kg basal feed supplied in mash, extruded, or pelleted form. Experimental d...

Vitamin A uptake cells in the endocrine organs of Japanese quails, Coturnix coturnix japonica.

The vitamin A uptake cells in the anterior pituitary, thyroid gland, and pancreas of Japanese quails, coturnix coturnix japonica, were examined by the use of Sudan III staining, toluidine blue staining, fluorescence microscopy and electron microscopy. After excess vitamin A administration, most of interstitial cells, corresponding to fibroblasts, increased markedly the size and number of lipid ...

Prepubertal and Pubertal Caecal Wall Histology in Japanese Quails (coturnix Coturnix Japonica)

The present study is aimed to investigate changes in caecal wall histology of quails, during prepubertal and pubertal periods. To this end, forty quails at the ages of 10, 20, 30 (prepuberty) and 40 (puberty) days were slaughtered (10 birds in each sampling time) and histological sections from proximal, middle and distal parts of caeca were prepared and stained with H&E. It was observed that in...
