چکیده
Ion mobility spectrometry (IMS) has been widely used for the on-site detection of trace chemicals, but continue to suffer from a low duty cycle ion injection. The Hadamard transform (HT-IMS) technique was employed address problem with increased signal-to-noise ratio (SNR). However, in this work, through simulation, certain deviation between mathematical principle and actual data collection process found, which resulted distortion baseline spectrum. reason behind analyzed novel IMS based on Sylvester-type matrix encoding modulation (Sylvester-HT-IMS), together set date processing technique, proposed. Sylvester-HT-IMS offered much improved quality deconvoluted spectrum overall performance simulation. In experimental verification, reactant ions product characterized, showed SNR discrimination over both conventional signal-averaged (SA-IMS) HT-IMS, providing an alternative method multiplexed IMS.

Traditionally, the spectrum acquired using ion mobility spectrometry (IMS) is an average of multiple experimental cycles. Each cycle is initiated by passing a short burst of ions into a drift tube containing a homogeneous electric field. Prior to starting the subsequent cycle, all ions in the system must arrive at the detector or spectral overlap may occur. To maximize resolution, the ion pulse...

The integration of ion mobility spectrometry (IMS) with a trap-based mass spectrometer (MS) such as Orbitrap using the dual gate approach suffers from low duty cycle. Efforts to improve the duty cycle involve the utilization of Hadamard transform-based double multiplexing which significantly improves the signal-to-noise ratio and duty cycle of the ion mobility-Orbitrap mass spectrometry (IM-Orb...

Applying Hadamard transform multiplexing to ion mobility separations (IMS) can significantly improve the signal-to-noise ratio and throughput for IMS coupled mass spectrometry (MS) measurements by increasing the ion utilization efficiency. However, it has been determined that fluctuations in ion intensity as well as spatial shifts in the multiplexed data lower the signal-to-noise ratios and app...
متن کاملEffects of modulation defects on Hadamard transform time-of-flight mass spectrometry (HT-TOFMS).
In any Hadamard multiplexing technique, discrepancies between the intended and the applied encoding sequences may reduce the intensity of real spectral features and create discrete, artificial signals. In our implementation of Hadamard transform time-of-flight mass spectrometry (HT-TOFMS), the encoding sequence is applied to the ion beam by means of an interleaved comb of wires (Bradbury-Nielso...
متن کاملHadamard Transform Time-of-Flight Mass Spectrometry
A new mode of operation of a time-of-flight mass spectrometer (TOFMS) is described and demonstrated. A continuous ion beam emerging from the ion source is accelerated and then modulated by a pseudorandom sequence of “on” and “off” pulses. The data acquisition period is set to match the period of the modulation sequence, and data are acquired synchronously with the modulation of the ion beam. Th...
