Growth Traits of Pendent Heliconia Genotypes in Kanyakumari Conditions

Heliconia is one of the important emerging exotic specialty cut flowers which gaining importance in Indian markets and used as a flower, floral decoration, beautifying gardens. We carried out field experiment at Horticultural Research Station, Pechiparai, Kanyakumari to evaluate performance pendent genotypes based on growth characteristics. The results revealed that among eight evaluated, H. chartacea ‘Surinam Gold’ recorded highest plant height (168.12 cm 228.32 cm) 120 180 days after planting (DAP) followed by vellerigera ‘Red’ ‘Sexy Pink’ were par with each other maximum number suckers (8.05 8.20 respectively). has stem girth rest genotypes.
