Groundwater Vulnerability of Halabja-Khurmal Sub-Basin Using Modified DRASTIC Method

چکیده
Abstract Evolving groundwater vulnerability from DRASTIC to modified methods helps choose the most accurate areas that are delicate toward pollution. This study aims modify with land use and water quality index for assessment in Halabja-Khurmal sub-basin, NE/Iraq. The sub-basin is calculated nine hydrogeological parameters by overlay weighting method. As a result, 1.3% of total area has very high value 46.1% vulnerability. regions have high-water table recharge. Nitrate concentration was used validate Pearson correlation recession analysis between nitrate depicted strong relation 0.76 0.7, respectively.

Vulnerability of groundwater to pollution using three different models in Halabja Saidsadiq basin, Iraq
Halabja Saidsadiq Basin (HSB) is one of a major basin of Iraq in terms of groundwater reservoirs. Intensive agricultural practices and economic revolution are widespread and located close to groundwater wells, which pose imminent threats to these resources. Therefore, the most effective and realistic solution is to prevent the contamination of groundwater through. The present study targets the ...
متن کاملQualitative Assessment of the Coastal Plain of Talesh using the Modified DRASTIC Vulnerability Method
Given the fact that the DRASTIC index is ineffective in addressing the saltwater uprising issue in coastal plains, in the present study, three factors including land use, distance to shoreline, and differences between groundwater and sea level were added to the DRASTIC index. The proposed modification to DRASTIC was validated using the measured electrical conductivity (EC) data gathered from gr...
متن کاملAquifer Vulnerability Assessment for Sustainable Groundwater Management Using DRASTIC
Groundwater management and protection has been facilitated by computational modeling of aquifer vulnerability and monitoring aquifers using groundwater sampling. The DRASTIC (Depth to water, Recharge, Aquifer media, Soil media, Topography, Impact of vadose zone media, and hydraulic Conductivity) model, an overlay and index GIS model, has been used for groundwater quality assessment because it r...

natural aquifer vulnerability can be defined as reaching pollution to groundwater and the possibility to propogate in it after land contamination. this is a relative specification, with no dimension and cannot be measured; which it is not only depended on aquifer specification but also on geological and hydrological characteristics of the aquifer of the region. varieties of methods have been de...
