چکیده

Deposition of corpses in the ground is most common burial practice, which can allow interactions between polluting compounds and soil, groundwater, surface water, may afterwards lead to negative environmental impacts risks public health. The risk cemeteries contaminating groundwater related their location, quantity clothes, metals adornments buried, geographical, geological, hydrogeological, climatic factors. Using DRASTIC index geographical information system (GIS) tools, potential for contamination was investigated eight located Figueira da Foz region (Portugal), are main anthropogenic pollution sources area. Aquifer vulnerability assessed through development thirteen site characteristic maps, seven thematic a map, using GIS operation tools. No studies were found on maps with this method digital Cemeteries UC2, UC4, UC5, UC6, UC7, UC8 within zones susceptible recharge, an average recharge rate 254 mm/year. expected develop greater water-holding capacity. water table depth more vulnerable at varying 9.1 m 15.2 m. However, results show only high associated UC4 cemetery contributions T,C > R,S I A D, should be under monitoring program. area surrounding characterized by ranging 22.9 m, mainly fine-grained sands both vadose zone aquifer media, Gleyic Solonchaks topsoil, very unfavorable slope (0–2%), hydraulic conductivity (>81.5 m/day). sensitivity analysis shows that topography, soil media weights effective assessment. highest variation made conductivity, net media. This type approach not makes it possible assess from but also allows definition plans as well provides entities responsible its management surveillance methodology tools continuous monitoring.

Groundwater vulnerability to pollution mapping of Ranchi district using GIS

Groundwater pollution due to anthropogenic activities is one of the major environmental problems in urban and industrial areas. The present study demonstrates the integrated approach with GIS and DRASTIC model to derive a groundwater vulnerability to pollution map. The model considers the seven hydrogeological factors [Depth to water table (D), net recharge (R), aquifer media (A), soil media (S...

Aquifer Vulnerability Assessment for Sustainable Groundwater Management Using DRASTIC

Groundwater management and protection has been facilitated by computational modeling of aquifer vulnerability and monitoring aquifers using groundwater sampling. The DRASTIC (Depth to water, Recharge, Aquifer media, Soil media, Topography, Impact of vadose zone media, and hydraulic Conductivity) model, an overlay and index GIS model, has been used for groundwater quality assessment because it r...

A GIS based DRASTIC model for assessing groundwater vulnerability in shallow aquifer in Aligarh, India

Surface water quality can be determined by hydrological responses that vary geographically. The sub-surface hydrologic environment, however, has a primary influence on groundwater movement and hence pollutant migration to the subsurface water. Maps of aquifer vulnerability to pollution are becoming more in demand because on the one hand groundwater represents the main source of drinking water, ...
