Ground Reaction of Lightly Overconsolidated Subsoil in Reinforced Piled Embankment under Cyclic Loads

چکیده

Subsoil support is generally ignored in the design of reinforced piled embankments, resulting a very conservative for settlement control. This philosophy may lead to an unnecessary increase construction costs, especially embankments constructed over subsoil medium and high compressibility (i.e., compression index larger than 0.2). paper presents ground reaction lightly overconsolidated embankment subjected cyclic loads purpose investigating general behavior subsoil, it promotes sustainable development technology. The under both static was comprehensively analyzed terms incremental vertical stress, which exhibited approximately same profile. However, load 23% that load. A parametric study then performed loads, results showed stress carried by most sensitive pile spacing amongst all parameters considered this paper. analysis demonstrated 88% when enlarged from 2.0 3.0 m. Finally, modified analytical method presented, reasonable agreement with numerical simulation, particularly relatively low geogrid stiffnesses, height (<6.5 m), small (e.g., 2–3 m center center).

A Simplified Model Describing the Cyclic Behavior of Lightly Overconsolidated Clays in Simple Shear

The geological profile of submerged slopes of the continental shelf typically consists of normally to lightly overconsolidated clays with depths ranging from a few meters to a few hundred meters and very low slope angles. The stability of these slopes is often investigated with pseudo-static methods by reducing the dynamic loading to an equivalent inertial force. The simplifications are such th...

Three-Dimensional Dynamic Analyses of Track-Embankment-Ground System Subjected to High Speed Train Loads

A three-dimensional finite element model was developed to investigate dynamic response of track-embankment-ground system subjected to moving loads caused by high speed trains. The track-embankment-ground systems such as the sleepers, the ballast, the embankment, and the ground are represented by 8-noded solid elements. The infinite elements are used to represent the infinite boundary condition ...

Study of Energy Dissipation in Accordion Thin-Walled Tubes under Axial Cyclic Loads

Energy absorber systems like metallic dampers for controlling the structural vibrations due to earthquake have witnessed considerable development in the past few decades. Also there are some studies on the energy absorption of thin-walled tubes due to impact load. Thin-walled tubes have a large deformation capacity and are suitable energy absorbers in the structure during an earthquake provided...

Shape optimization of reduced beam section under cyclic loads

Optimal shapes are found for reduced beam section of a cantilever H-beam subjected to forced cyclic displacement at the free end. The beam is discretized to finite elements, and a commercial software package called ABAQUS is used for elastoplastic analysis. The numerical results are first compared with experimental results to verify the accuracy. The objective function to be maximized is the di...
