Bi-concave Functions Defined by Al-Oboudi Differential Operator

The purpose of the present paper is to introduce a class $D_{Sigma ;delta }^{n}C_{0}(alpha )$ of bi-concave functions defined by Al-Oboudi differential operator. We find estimates on the Taylor-Maclaurin coefficients $leftvert a_{2}rightvert $ and $leftvert a_{3}rightvert$ for functions in this class. Several consequences of these results are also pointed out in the form of corollaries.

Greens Functions for 3-D Seismic Migration

The space-time Greens functions for 3-D poststack and 3-D prestack migration in a homogeneous medium are derived under the fareld approximation. These Greens functions can be used to practically compute synthetic migrated images. Examples are given for the recording footprint noise associated with a point scatterer and a meandering river channel. The Greens functions also provide fundamental in...

Greens Functions for the Wave Equation

I gather together known results on fundamental solutions to the wave equation in free space, and Greens functions in tori, boxes, and other domains. From this the corresponding fundamental solutions for the Helmholtz equation are derived, and, for the 2D case the semiclassical approximation interpreted back in the time-domain. Utility: scarring via time-dependent propagation in cavities; Math 4...

Differential Operator Specializations of Noncommutative Symmetric Functions

Let K be any unital commutative Q-algebra and z = (z1, · · · , zn) commutative or noncommutative free variables. Let t be a formal parameter which commutes with z and elements of K. We denote uniformly by K〈〈z〉〉 and K[[t]]〈〈z〉〉 the formal power series algebras of z over K and K[[t]], respectively. For any α ≥ 1, let D〈〈z〉〉 be the unital algebra generated by the differential operators of K〈〈z〉〉 ...

A Convex Surrogate Operator for General Non-Modular Loss Functions

Empirical risk minimization frequently employs convex surrogates to underlying discrete loss functions in order to achieve computational tractability during optimization. However, classical convex surrogates can only tightly bound modular loss functions, submodular functions or supermodular functions separately while maintaining polynomial time computation. In this work, a novel generic convex ...
