چکیده
Maintenance of urban green infrastructure generates a large amount biomass that can be considered valuable feedstock for biogas production. This study aims to determine the effect cutting time and method substrate preservation on specific methane yield (SMY) grass collected from road verges median strips between roadways in wet (WF) dry fermentation (DF) technology. The was three times growing season, including spring, summer, autumn. biochemical potential (BMP) test performed fresh grass, ensiled without additives, with microbiological additives. In addition, energy potentially produced avoided CO2 emissions were calculated. highest SMY (274.18 ± 22.59 NL kgVS−1) observed spring subjected WF. At same time, lowest CH4 production (182.63 0.48 found digested DF A comparison obtained samples WF technologies revealed higher yields electricity heat affected by cutting, ensilage method, AD Generally, less but more least (469–548 kWh tDM−1) cut DF, while most (621–698 autumn case production, situation reversed. The Potential for Biogas Production from Grass
Grass is generally considered as one of the major agricultural products and covers over 90% of Irish agricultural land. While useful as an animal feedstock it can also be used for energy production. Here batch mesophilic anaerobic digestion of grass silage was studied. The methane concentration in the biogas clearly showed that grass silage has a high affinity to produce a high quality methane ...
متن کاملMaize Silage as Substrate for Biogas Production
The presented work studies the possibilities of using maize silage for biogas production in laboratory as well as in full-scale conditions. From the results of long-term operation of a mixed laboratory anaerobic reactor, it follows that processing of maize silage as a single substrate is an unstable process due to the low alkalinity of silage that has to be compensated by pH adjustment. Specifi...

Sod culture is one of the important methods in establishing and repairing of turf grass, especially in sport fields. Nowadays, a mixture of sand and peat are commonly used in sod production in Iran. Because peat media is expensive, it seems necessary to find an alternative medium. Rice hull, tea waste and leaf compost as economical organic material that are available in huge loads in north of I...
متن کاملMicroalgae biomass as an alternative substrate in biogas production
The running down of fossil energy sources makes the production of bioenergy an expected need worldwide. Therefore, energy crops have gained increasing attention in recent years as a source for the production of bioenergy because they do not compete with food crops. Microalgae have numerous advantages such as fast growth rates and not competing with food production. Because of the fast growth, m...
متن کاملSustainability assessment of biogas production from buffalo grass and dung: biogas purification and bio-fertilizer
Biomass from wetland aquatic grass and buffalo grass can be exploited for biogas production, because this substrate is plenteous and does not compete with food production. In this study, the grass substrate was physically pretreated by boiling with different retention time to increase its biodegradability and was examined in batch mode. Boiling pretreatment suggested that 100 °C with 2 h retent...
