چکیده
Graphdiyne (GDY) is an emerging 2D carbon material that exhibits unusual structures and properties. Therefore, growing heterogeneous materials on the surface of GDY very attractive to achieve efficient energy utilization. Here, a simple method for controllable synthesis ultrathin charge-transfer complexes (CTs) nickel with terephthalic acid nanosheets reported. This catalyst shows record-high oxygen evolution reaction (OER) activity overpotential only 155 mV deliver current density 10 mA cm?2 in alkaline electrolyte. Density functional theory calculations reveals strong p–d coupling effect GDY–CT interface region enhances overall electronic activity, resulting fast reversible redox-switching low electron-transfer barrier. Experimental characterization confirms plays key role modulating morphological accelerate OER rate. These findings are expected contribute design more catalysts realization hydrogen technologies.

متن کاملNearly Total Solar Absorption in Ultrathin Nanostructured Iron Oxide for Efficient Photoelectrochemical Water Splitting
We demonstrate using first-principles full-field electromagnetic simulations that nearly total above-band-gap solar absorption can be achieved in ultra-thin-film iron oxide photoanodes for water splitting applications. In our designed structure, all regions of iron oxide are away from the interface between iron oxide and water by a distance of less than the hole diffusion length, which is assum...
متن کاملTiO2 nanotubes with ultrathin walls for enhanced water splitting.
We demonstrate, for the first time, the synthesis of titania nanotubes with ultrathin (3-5 nm) wall thickness. As revealed by the incident photon-to-current collection efficiency (IPCE) and electrochemical impedance spectroscopy measurements, the ultrathin walls, less than the charge carrier diffusion length, were essential to ensure fast and efficient charge carrier collection.

Enhanced plasmonic fields are a promising way to increase the efficiency of photocatalytic water splitting. The availability of atomically thin materials opens up completely new opportunities. We report photocatalytic water splitting on ultrathin CdSe nanoplatelets placed in plasmonic nanogaps formed by a flat gold surface and a gold nanoparticle. The extreme field intensity created in these ga...
