چکیده

Abstract The inhibition of condensation frosting at harsh environments is critical in various anti-icing applications. However, on the entire surface final fate for most passive strategies as a result inevitable ice nucleation subcooled droplets from edges or defects and following inter-droplet freezing wave propagation. Here, we report frost-free zone formation macro-ridged surface. We design macroscale ridge show that this configuration changes spatial distribution water vapor diffusion flux during stage, resulting gradient arrangement condensate according to their size. This allows numerous failures local bridging area with droplet coverage rate, which triggers interruption global propagation evaporation rest form around corner. These findings extend our understanding frost provide rationale impressive durable anti-frosting performance.

Expression of perilipin 5 promotes lipid droplet formation in yeast

Neutral lipids are packed into dedicated intracellular compartments termed lipid droplets (LDs). LDs are spherical structures delineated by an unusual lipid monolayer and they harbor a specific set of proteins, many of which function in lipid synthesis and lipid turnover. In mammals, LDs are covered by abundant scaffolding proteins, the perilipins (PLIN1-5). LDs in yeast are functionally simila...

Prediction of Droplet Size and Velocity Distribution in Droplet Formation Region of Liquid Spray

Determining the distributions of size and velocity of droplets formed at the end of primary breakup region is followed in this paper. The droplet formation stage at the end of primary breakup is random and stochastic and it can be modeled by statistical means based on the maximum entropy principle (MEP). The MEP formulation predicts the atomization process while satisfying constraint equations ...

Formation of ice lenses and frost heave

[1] I examine the morphology of ice growth in porous media. Intermolecular forces cause premelted fluid to migrate and supply segregated ice growth (e.g., lenses) and frost heave. I account for the net effect of these microscopic interactions in a homogenized model formulated in terms of fundamental physical properties and characteristics of the porous medium that can be measured; no ad hoc par...

Experimental Evaluation Of The Frost Formation

Frost formation on an evaporator causes significant problems by decreasing inlet air flow. It is important for a precise prediction to understand the dominant factor of the frost formation. In this paper, the frost layer on the cold plate is experimentally obtained with different velocities while maintaining a surface temperature at -20 degrees Celsius. The mass and height of the frost layer is...
