Coccidioidal Endophthalmitis in Immunocompetent Person, California, USA
To the Editor: In the United States, dimorphic fungi of the species Coccidioides are endemic to California (particularly the Central Valley), southern Arizona, southern New Mexico, and western Texas. Although there are a relatively large number of coccidioidomycosis cases in the United States (≈150,000/year), intraocular coccidioidomycosis is uncommon (1,2). We report a case of coccidioidal end...
متن کاملDistinguishing Tuberculosis from Nontuberculous Mycobacteria Lung Disease, Oregon, USA
To determine whether tuberculosis (TB) and nontuberculous mycobacteria (NTM) infection patients could be distinguished from one another with limited information, we compared pulmonary TB and NTM patients during 2005-2006. Our finding that age, birthplace, and presence of chronic obstructive pulmonary disease could differentiate TB and NTM disease could assist tuberculosis control efforts.
متن کاملSurveillance of Extrapulmonary Nontuberculous Mycobacteria Infections, Oregon, USA, 2007–2012
Limited data are available describing extrapulmonary nontuberculous mycobacteria (NTM) infections in the general population. We describe results from statewide population-based laboratory surveillance in Oregon, USA, during 2007-2012. We defined a case of extrapulmonary NTM infection as >1 isolate from skin/soft tissue, disseminated sites, lymph node, joint, or other sites. The annual incidence...
متن کاملDrainage Density and Controlling Factors in Cascade Range, Oregon, USA
This paper demonstrates a feasibility of automated drainage density mapping on regional scales and in high resolution, using remotely sensed elevation data. Such maps offer affordable means of surveying large regions for variability in spatially extended features, which themselves are difficult to sense remotely, but are expressed by the drainage density. We show that the proposed mapping metho...
