Goat Farming for the Economic Upliftment of Resource Poor Farmers of Maharashtra

Survey of farmer was done to record the farmer's profile, livestock production system, socio - economic condition in pre constructed preforms for selection farmers. revealed that average annual income farmers at beginning intervention Traimbakeshwar and Ambegaon taluka Rs. 25,270/- 26,530/-respectively. Goats maintained semi intensive system management. renovated existing shed with low cost locally available materials. feeding maize, marvel grass, guinea hybrid napier etc. as green fodder. Supplied feed also provided @ 100 g twice daily each goat. Routine deworming vaccination done. Animals monitored regularly. The data performance, mortality, disposal goats collected. Average weight recorded be 23.470 ± 0.872 25.216 0.691 respectively. birth 2.580 0.234 kg. gain kids 108.45 10.21 / day. far 48 born from 27 kiddings kidding per cent triplet 7.41 %, twinning 62.96 % single 29.63 %.
