Stability of Subsonic Jet Flows
An overview of recent experimental results on instability and dynamics of jets at low Reynolds numbers is given. Round and plane, macro and micro jets are under the consideration. Basic features of their evolution affected by initial conditions at the nuzzle outlet and environmental perturbations are demonstrated.

theory, when appropriate allowances are made for the noisy freestream and the nonlinear disturbances not identified by the linear theories. It remains to be determined if the incompatibility of planar boundary-layer instability phenomena with classical linear stability theory is a unique feature of the planar boundary layer or if it is a noisy wind-tunnel characteristic that affects planar boun...
متن کاملGlobal Subsonic and Subsonic-Sonic Flows through Infinitely Long Axially Symmetric Nozzles
Abstract: In this paper, we establish existence of global subsonic and subsonic-sonic flows through infinitely long axially symmetric nozzles by combining variational method, various elliptic estimates and a compensated compactness method. More precisely, it is shown that there exist global subsonic flows in nozzles for incoming mass flux less than a critical value; moreover, uniformly subsonic...

متن کاملExistence and Stability of Supersonic Euler Flows past Lipschitz Wedges
It is well known that, when the vertex angle of a straight wedge is less than the critical angle, there exists a shock-front emanating from the wedge vertex so that the constant states on both sides of the shock-front are supersonic. Since the shock-front at the vertex is usually strong, especially when the vertex angle of the wedge is large, then such a global flow is physically required to be...
